‘Worst’ art restoration spawns new online meme

When life hands you lemons … add vodka. And drink. That’s my advice for the man responsible for what Time magazine called the “Worst. Restoration. Ever.” The dishonor belongs to a Spanish senior citizen, who botched her attempt at mending a timeworn fresco titled “Ecce Homo” that depicts Jesus wearing a crown of thorns in the painting. Of course, the Internet has turned the failed restoration into the latest online meme, “Potato Jesus.” Judging from the inspired work, it might be the start of a new movement in art history.
As for the classics, Advertising Age stumbled upon a 1950s era 7Up campaign featuring an 11-month-old toddler tossing back a bottle of the fizzing soft drink. Probably beats the heck out of formula.
