Underpants tweet sparks political squabble online
An inappropriate image was tweeted to a woman from Rep. Anthony Weiner’s Twitter account. The politician says his account was hacked; GOP blogs think otherwise.
Whose underpants?
No one’s saying—except for Rep. Anthony Weiner, who wants everyone to know they don’t belong to him.
On Saturday night, a close-up picture of a man in his underpants was tweeted to a woman from Weiner’s Twitter account. The Democratic congressman from New York has said his account was hacked, and the woman—Gennette Nicole Cordova, a college student in Washington state—said she’s never had contact with Weiner.
That hasn’t stopped right-leaning websites and blogs from pushing the issue—fueled by Andrew Breitbart’s Big Journalism site—suggesting there’s more to the story. Or, if you like, that Weiner’s pants are on fire.
