The PR gaffes surrounding Rand Paul’s campaign announcement
As soon as the Kentucky senator threw his hat in the ring, social media and online news sites dug up mistakes and made jokes at his expense.
Future presidential candidates take note: Be prepared for every single aspect of your campaign launch to be scrutinized, picked apart, poked and ridiculed. Don’t believe me? Ask Rand Paul, Kentucky’s Republican senator who made his announcement this week.
Paul, speaking from a Louisville hotel ballroom, positioned himself as a staunch conservative, anti-Washington change maker (with just a soupçon of libertarianism), noting that the “Washington machine that gobbles up our freedoms and invades every nook and cranny of our lives must be stopped.”
That’s around the same time a power outage hit Washington D.C. Too easy, right?
Just after Rand Paul vows to “defeat the Washington machine,” the DC area experiences widespread power outage. Coincidence?
