The best and worst managed companies in America are …
Financial news website 24/7 Wall St. compiled two lists of organizations. Guess which companies topped each list, and how the site determined them.
“The death of Steve Jobs is the single most memorable event that happened at Apple this year,” reports 24/7 Wall St. “But it overshadows another period of remarkable results. Apple continued to grow at an extraordinary rate despite its size.”
Meanwhile, the worst run company, according to 24/7 Wall St., is Avon Products.
“Avon’s management has taken one of the greatest franchise operations in the world and nearly ruined it,” explains the website.
Research in Motion, which makes the BlackBerry, ranked second on the list of worst run companies. (Although RIM, as it’s known, is a Canadian-based company.)
To determine the companies in each category, editors at 24/7 Wall St. examined the S&P 500 index. According to the site:
