The 20 most ‘well-read’ U.S. cities
The list is based on Amazon sales. Did your hometown make the list?
For the second straight year, Amazon identified the most well-read cities in America—based on how much stuff the residents buy from the online retailer—and Alexandria, Va. grabbed the top spot. Arlington, Va., was No. 7.
Amazon determines the rankings by compiling sales data of all book, magazine and newspaper sales in print and Kindle format since June 1, 2011. The data is ranked on a per capita basis in cities with more than 100,000 residents.
The Huffington Post noted that cities with more brick and mortar book stores would likely rank lower (or not at all) on this list.
