Report: Social media revenue to hit $29.1 billion by 2015
Last year, revenue stemming from social media sites was $7.3 billion. Is it fair to call that explosive growth?
Reporting on the latest numbers from Gartner, ZDNet Asia said:
“The worldwide market is on track to hit $10.3 billion this year, a 41.4 percent jump from $7.3 billion in 2010. It will reach $14.9 billion by 2012 and by 2015, nearly double this amount at $29.1 billion.”
The biggest contributor to this explosive growth is ads on social networks, according to Gartner. Revenue from social gaming is another contributor.
