PR crisis at Susan G. Komen: Even more executives resign
The communications chair at a Komen affiliate said the organization needs to give its local affiliates greater control of their message.
According to The Associated Press:
“The departures include three officials from Komen’s Dallas headquarters, as well as CEOs of affiliate groups in Oregon and New York City. The chairman of the foundation also stepped down from his post, though he will remain on the board.”
PR Daily reported on two of the departures this week, those of Dara Richardson-Heron, chief executive of Komen’s New York City affiliate, and Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Katrina McGhee.
At least some of the resignations appear to be related to Komen’s decision last month to de-fund—then re-fund—cancer screenings at Planned Parenthood, according to the AP.
