NYPD Twitter account offers ‘you can’t handle the truth’ speech for motivation
The speech from the movie ‘A Few Good Men’ involves the extrajudicial killing of a U.S. Marine.
The “you can’t handle the truth” speech from the movie “A Few Good Men” is often played in clips on award shows or in movie retrospectives—almost invariably out of context.
It’s delivered by Jack Nicholson, who plays U.S. Marine Col. Nathan Jessup. The “truth” he’s talking about while on the stand during a court-martial is the extrajudicial killing of a fellow marine. Jessup is later arrested.
Perhaps the people who run the Twitter account for the New York Police Department’s Midtown South division weren’t aware of that context when they posted this image for “motivational Monday” this week:
