Although it’s important to focus on maximizing social media , today’s PR pros shouldn’t forget about “old media,” which still play a vital role in modern journalism. Social media can be helpful in bridging the gap between traditional news outlets and the 2016 consumer.
The Pew Research Center’s State of the News Media report says that people are increasingly consuming news using mobile, digital and social media platforms. For example, though I still receive a hard-copy edition of The Washington Post each morning, I consume most of my news through links on Twitter.
