How PR pros can land coverage with new online outlet ‘Grid’
The publication’s top brass share tips on their approach to stories—and connecting with subject matter experts.
The media landscape continues to see massive upheaval—but it’s not all bad news. While local print journalism continues to decline, online outlets continue to launch and find audiences looking for context and nuance.
Grid has joined the fray to give, in its words, “avid news readers clarity on the stories that matter most.” The outlet is founded by CEO Mark Bauman, an alumnus of National Geographic and ABC News, and Executive Editor Laura McGann, a reporter with experience covering politics and policy for Vox and Politico.
The publication promises to break down barriers between coverage beats and bring a “fresh approach to journalism, one focused on breaking down silos so journalists can work in collaboration,” according to its press release.
Let’s explore how PR pros can collaborate with the nascent publication.
Anatomy of a story
Grid focuses on examining the biggest stories of the day through multiple lenses. That means the team is looking for subject matter experts to provide analysis quickly to connect to newsworthy topics.
