How big is the gender divide in the public relations industry?
An educator in the U.K. says that 90 percent of her PR students are women.
Wouldn’t be surprised. Heather Yaxley, a public relations educator from the U.K., said in a post on the PR Conversations blog that in her experience “90 percent of the students on undergraduate PR degree courses and studying for professional qualifications are female.”
Across the Atlantic, there’s a similar trend.
In 2008, PRWeek published results from a survey performed by the Public Relations Student Society of America indicating men comprised a meager 11 percent of PR students in higher education.
