Homer goes off-script for live ‘Simpsons’ bit
Popular culture’s interest in live moments and events is on the rise. To keep up, social media and technology will help TV’s longest-running sitcom air its first live segment.
For 27 seasons, “The Simpsons” has pioneered the animated television medium. This year, the show will once again break ground when it broadcasts live.
On May 15, the show’s iconic character, Homer Simpson, will devote three minutes to speaking about current events, and offer unscripted answers to tweeted questions from fans. According to CNN Money, the rest of the broadcast, which took eight months to produce, will be a normal animated episode.
