Florida State, Tallahassee Police offer updates on shooting
A gunman shot three students at the university’s Strozier Library just after midnight Thursday. Officials kept the community posted via online updates.
The story is becoming all too familiar: At around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, a gunman went into Florida State University’s Strozier Library and opened fire, injuring three students.
Police soon arrived on the scene, where they met the gunman at the entrance. The gunman shot at police and officers returned fire, killing him.
Florida State’s official Twitter account let students and parents know about the shooting:

Shortly thereafter, the university’s Twitter reported that the area was secure, but warned students to stay safe:
Working with officials to confirm details. AREA HAS BEEN SECURED. Please continue to stay safe and heed Law Enforcement instructions.
