Facebook announces ‘fundraiser’ tool for nonprofit pages
The social network is partnering with several charitable organizations. The new features are meant to encourage users to donate to causes.
Facebook is looking to move past hollow gestures—such as simply “liking” a nonprofit’s Facebook page without donating—by partnering with 37 nonprofits in the United States and offering a fundraiser tool.
Among the partner nonprofits are Mercy Corps, National Multiple Sclerosis Society and World Wildlife Fund.
Facebook also added an improved version of the “donate” button for nonprofit pages. An estimated 150 million people are connected to a cause on Facebook.
