Cisco exec: ‘Social media is … one of the most powerful tools that mankind has ever seen’

And study after study reveals that most workplaces don’t want to grant it.
Carlos Dominguez, a senior vice president at Cisco Systems, wants the nation’s executives to know that banning social media at work will hinder their recruiting efforts.
“Those companies that don’t embrace, allow, and leverage social media in the workplace will be at a major disadvantage in competing for this new workforce,” he wrote on the Cisco blog.
Dominguez highlighted the results of the Cisco Connected World Report, which found (among other things) that a young professional will take a lower salary in exchange for the freedom to access social media at work.
