Nine Point Agency’s Tiffany Soper: ‘You just need to go for it’
The agency president offers a look at her daily routine, tools that keep it organized and the lessons she has learned along the way.
Who is the most important person you talk to every day?
Is it a spouse, or child? Is it a mentor or work colleague? What about a work spouse?
The important people in our lives can take all shapes and sizes and for Tiffany Soper, president of Nine Point Agency, those include her 8-month-old daughter and her “work wife” and colleague, Malania Dela Cruz.
We spoke to Soper about her work and career for our ongoing series “A Day in the Life.” Here’s what she had to say:
1. What’s your favorite part of your morning routine?
Soper: Feeding, cuddling and spending quality time with my 8-month-old daughter before the day begins.
2. Who’s the most important person you talk to every day?
Soper: Malania Dela Cruz, my work wife and our agency vice president. We have been long-time friends and have grown even closer since we started working together three years ago.
We speak daily about everything happening with the business, and make a great team.
3. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced in your career?
Soper: Navigating and surviving COVID-19 and the implications for the business, our team and clients. It was extremely challenging and stressful, but happy to say that we have come out stronger and in a really good place.
4. What’s your best book or podcast recommendation for PR colleagues?
Soper: My favourite podcast is “The Daily” by The New York Times. They cover all of the big stories, current events and global news, told by the best and most experienced journalists from The New York Times.
5. What’s your favorite tool you use regularly for your work?
Soper: My iPhone and laptop. Mac all the way.
6. Are you in an office/remote or both? What do you like (or dislike) about your current setup?
Soper: Hybrid – mix of in-office and at-home. The current setup is perfect to be honest; I get the flexibility to work from home most days so I can spend time with my daughter as I transition back to work from mat leave, and pop into the office a few days a week to have face-to-face time with the team, see clients, etc.
7. What’s one trick you use to promote well-being, and make yourself feel good at work?
Soper: I drink a lot of water and make sure to stay hydrated, and I always have a stash of healthy food around. I need three full meals plus snacks each day. It keeps my energy up and helps with mood and motivation. I’m always trying to feed people at the office (lol).
8. What’s the best advice anyone has ever given you in your career?
Soper: One of my first bosses and mentors explained to me that if you want to start a business, you just need to go for it. You need to take the risk to earn the reward, and if you are driven and committed to succeed that the hard work will pay off.
It was really valuable advice that helped launch my career as a business owner.
