‘Field guide to the Internet’: Grovo makes mastering online tools easy
A year-old (and newly revamped) website offers quick tutorials on how to use a variety of online platforms.
The platform, Grovo.com, launched last October as a source for Internet education, and it quickly earned accolades from a variety of media outlets, including being named one of the best startups of 2011 by Business Insider.
Grovo, which bills itself as a “field guide to the Internet,” delivers lessons on more than 1,000 lessons on close to 100 websites and applications, from business topics, such as how local merchants can use Yelp, to consumer topics, like maneuvering the real estate site Zillow.com.
About 25 new lessons, containing groups of one- or two-minute video tutorials, are added each week. The courses are presented on a custom-built platform with content produced in-house by Grovo’s team of writers, editors, and voice-over talent. Courses are available for both free and $9-a-month membership levels.
This week, the site added groups, enabling anyone to create public or private groups and collaborate with other users in the online educational environment. Corporate communicators, marketers and public relations professionals can create groups for teams, colleagues, professional associations, and clients to teach and learn specific Internet tools together.
