The scolding sparked a loud debate among journalists this week.
Loud, that is, on Twitter.
The New York Times‘ Brian Stelter tweeted his support of journalists tweeting their stuff, suggesting wire services should “speed up.” The anonymous Twitter account @nytfridge jumped into the fray, questioning Stelter’s position. Others joined. New York magazine covered it, so did Poynter.
A debate such as this one could only occur if journalists were already embracing Twitter. It sure seems they are; a study from the Society of New Communications Research and Middleberg Communications found that 69 percent of journalists say they use the platform as a reporting tool.
