4 social media tips from ‘The Wizard of Oz’
As you tweet, post and share, remember these important social media basics with help from some of Hollywood’s most memorable characters.
I recently heard social media strategist Beth Rosen speak about the ways we can build brands using social media. She offered a few basic tips every social media manager should keep in mind, and made them easy to remember by relating them to “The Wizard of Oz.”
As you manage your company’s social media sites, let Dorothy, Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion inspire you:
Dorothy: Keep trying to lead people home.
To your homepage, that is. While it’s nice to have a lot of fans who follow your social profiles, it’s important to remember why you have those profiles in the first place—to drive people to your website.
Dorothy spent her entire time in Oz trying to get home, and you should spend your time online trying to get customers to your website. Before you post or share anything, think about how it will lead your customers to your product or service and result in business for your company.
Scarecrow: Share the knowledge you have.
