Report: That smartphone is giving you back pain
We work longer hours and rarely think about our posture, according to a British physiotherapy group. That’s probably why your back is killing you.
The problem is that smartphones and tablets have fostered an “always-on” culture in which people work longer hours. The BBC quoted Dr. Helena Johnson, Chairwoman of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists as saying,
“While doing a bit of extra work at home may seem like a good short-term fix, if it becomes a regular part of your evening routine then it can lead to problems such as back and neck pain, as well as stress-related illness. This is especially the case if you’re using hand-held devices and not thinking about your posture.”
