Hollister apologizes after models mock Koreans on Twitter
The clothing company is apologizing after American models shared offensive pictures and remarks on social media in the wake of the store’s opening in Korea.
The company said:
“On behalf of our more than 80,000 associates around the world who cherish our core values and our culture of diversity and inclusion, we sincerely apologize for the offense caused by these unauthorized, ill-considered actions.”
The American company opened a store in South Korea last week, and as part of the festivities it flew in U.S. models to take pictures with customers. One male model tweeted a picture of himself making squinty eyes. Other comments and pictures included derisivie comments, including some that made fun of Asian accents.
