25th anniversary of ‘The Princess Bride’: 5 memorable quotes
To mark the occasion, there’s a big PR push, including a screening at the New York Film Festival, a cast reunion, interviews with one of the film’s stars, and a new Blu-Ray.
“The Princess Bride” is one of those rare films that is not only forever quotable, but also entertaining in its 100th viewing. It’s a consensus builder, a happy compromise: Men and women find appeal in it, as do the young and old.
And on Wednesday this rare movie turned 25.
I know, “Inconceivable!”
“The Princess Bride,” which was based on William Goldman’s book of the same name, hit theaters on Sept. 25, 1987. During its run at the box office, the film made more than $30 million (and cost $16 million to make).
To mark the anniversary, the movie is enjoying something of a nostalgia PR tour. On Monday, The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced via press release that it is screening the crowd favorite at this year’s New York Film Festival. During the fest, the cast and crew are slated to reunite.
A 25th anniversary Blu-ray version of the movie is also due Oct. 2.
Meanwhile, Fred Savage, one of the film’s stars, spoke with Yahoo’s Movie Talk about his experience on the set in London.
