Weather Channel slams Breitbart over climate-change article
‘The next time you write a climate change article and need fact checking help, please call,’ the organization’s rebuttal said.
That was The Weather Channel’s response to a Breitbart News report that cites plunging temperatures as a sign that global warming is false.
The report cited a Weather Channel story on El Niño and La Niña that notes falling temperatures around the globe. Though global temperatures have dropped somewhat, Weather channel points out that it’s not as dramatic as Breitbart’s report would make it sound.
Breitbart’s article cites one study that measures land temperatures but fails to mention others that “show smaller drops, more typical of the decline one would expect after a strong El Niño event.” It also fails to measure temperatures over water, which comprises more than 70 percent of the earth’s surface.
The Weather Channel took Breitbart to task in a point/counterpoint format, during which it accuses the publication of using “cherry-picked information.”
