Delta publicly lauds Obama immigration reform
Commentators called the stance expressed by the airline’s chief human resources officer ‘gutsy,’ but they also pointed out that it may alienate customers.
Delta Air Lines has inserted itself into one of the most contentious political battles of the day.
In a statement issued Friday, the airline’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer, Joanne Smith, said this regarding President Obama’s executive action that, in part, protects around 4 million immigrants from deportation:
Delta Air Lines applauds the steps announced this week to enact much-needed reforms to the nation’s immigration system. The President’s actions will provide economic development opportunities and enhance public safety by streamlining legal immigration while cracking down on illegal immigration at the border and focusing on deporting felons rather than families.
