Consumers pressure Victoria’s Secret to feature plus-size models
The online community launched a petition for the fashion brand to both carry larger sizes and hire curvier models.
This isn’t sitting well with several customers, and they’ve taken to the Internet to voice their displeasure.
One petition takes aim at a recent ad featuring several thin models with the tagline “The perfect ‘body’.” It refers to the “Body by Victoria” clothing line, but Brittany Cordts, who started the Change.org petition, thinks it sends the wrong message.
“They are sending a message to the world that you have to be a size 0-2 to be beautiful and worthy of wearing lingerie,” Cordts writes. “Victoria’s Secret is promoting self-loathing and it needs to stop.”
Cordts is calling on the company to use “curvier, more realistic supermodels in their campaigns and runway show.”
