There are common themes that people outside of the communications industry want to know about public relations. The search engine giant sheds some light.
It’s also given us insight into what other users want to know.
Inspired by AdWeek’s “10 things people on Google are just dying to know about advertising,” here’s an unscientific look at six common types of questions about public relations:
1. How does PR work?
When it comes to how, it’s clear that PR pros admire Apple. It’s also interesting to see that people outside of the profession are wondering how PR firms work. People who work at PR firms probably wonder the same thing sometimes.
2. What should happen within PR?
The should category presents some debatable topics, like whether PR pros should be licensed and whether PR should replace advertising.
Apparently there are enough companies that don’t practice internal communications to warrant a common question over whether HR should be responsible for employee relations.
To answer the first question—no, public relations should not be capitalized.
