5 ways brand managers can tell their stories
As the brand journalism trend continues to grow, PR and marketing pros must learn the formula for telling great tales. These five tips can get you started.
However, the rise of brand journalism means we no longer have to fight to see our stories in print. Many brands are publishing content on social media platforms or their own company blogs that attract many eyeballs.
“Why do we have this mentality that in order to get our story out, we have to have somebody else tell our story?” Mark Ragan, publisher of PR Daily, asks.
“The brand journalism and content marketing elements of the business are more indispensable than ever,” Ragan wrote about the power of storytelling in a brand’s strategy. “Brand journalism is becoming indispensable to every industry.”
Whether you work with a journalist or create content on your brand’s site or social media profiles, here are five ways you can tell your company’s story:
1. Put your audience first.
“You can never bore people,” Ragan says. “You have to know what your audience wants. Do you know what makes them laugh? What makes them different from any other audience?”
These questions are key to finding stories that your audience actually wants to read. It will not only increase views, but likely prompt people to share your content on social media.
