Here are four examples of health care communicators who have each focused on a specific population:
1. You may not exclusively serve the millennial market, but changes to the Affordable Care Act bring fresh reminders to providers and hospitals about health and wellness. The U.S. Census Bureau says there are nearly 84 million millennials (people born between 1982 and 2000) million. A post on AdAge.com says understanding a young person’s “openness to a range of different types of media” is essential. Mark Shipley, a health care marketing strategist and CEO of communications consultancy Smith & Jones, says “millennials seek inspiration, connection and convenience.” He adds that this populace craves content that is helpful or entertaining, rather than a straight sell.
