Thanks to the craft beer revolution, the options for finding the perfect brew are extensive.

The number of craft breweries in the United States more than doubled from 2012 to 2016, according to the Brewers Association, jumping to 5,234 from 2,420. Overall, the craft beer market was a $23.5 billion industry in 2016.

Still, many prefer to take on the task of brewing yeast, barley and hop-infused masterpieces in their basement or garage. According the American Homebrewers Association, there are an estimated 1.2 million homebrewers in the United States.

Homebrewing even has its own convention, known as “Homebrew Con.” The event, held recently in Minneapolis, drew over 2,500 attendees and 3,530 homebrewers from 14 countries.
