Living in an entertainment-filled city is no fun when a major chunk of your salary goes toward rent.
Earning a high wage doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be living a lavish life, either.
BusinessStudent.com released a study, “The Places in America Where All Your Salary Goes to Rent,” to help those in business-related fields find the careers and locations best suited to them financially. (The report acknowledges that “business” is a broad term. Lemonade stands? Pop-up taxidermy salons, maybe?)
Despite the title, the study dives into multiple data related to business careers. It ranks careers in a given field that earn the highest average salary, the states with the highest average salary, and the cities with the highest and lowest average salaries. It also lists cities where a large portion of your money won’t go toward rent, as well as the ones where it will.
The lists were compiled using the site’s Business Jobs Index, which comprises 127 business-related positions and their salaries from Indeed.com.
