Michael Laffin

Michael B. Laffin is vice president of corporate communications for Vertex Pharmaceuticals in Boston. He oversees the company’s global internal communications, brand, digital, social media, video, content and storytelling teams.

Previously, Laffin was the vice president of communications for EQT Corporation, the largest natural gas producer in North America, where he focused on employee and executive communications, communications related to a proxy contest, media relations, community relations, brand redesign, digital communications and content development. He also served as the president of the EQT Foundation.

Prior to EQT, Laffin spent 13 years at Mylan, where he held multiple senior and executive roles in the Global Communications Department. At Mylan, Laffin’s primary focus was on content development, employee and executive communications, video communications, brand ambassadorship, integration communications and change management.

Laffin also held communications roles at Carnegie Mellon University and Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. He earned a master’s degree in Professional Writing at Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree in Business from Westminster College, in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania.

Laffin lives in Pittsburgh with his wife and four daughters.
